ANIMAL TREASURE HUNT VIDEO CONFERENCING PROJECT BRIEF

(idea provided by Louise Sulway – Maendy Primary School, Torfaen)

Preparation prior to VC

1.        Each class will choose an animal from their own locality and research the habitat the animal likes to live in.

2.       Each class will also choose an animal from the partner school’s locality and research the habitat for the animal.

3.       Each school will compare and contrast the different animals in the different localities.

4.       Each school will create a set of clues for each of the animals studied in preparation for the VC.  The format of these clues is open to the individual classes e.g. powerpoint, quiz, role play, poetry etc.

Resources

  1. Internet access
  2. Various relevant software packages

Video Conference Agenda – Suggested Activities

  1. Initial introductions between the classes/schools.
  2. Each class will present their clues for the two habitats they have researched (NB THEY MUST NOT REVEAL THE NAME OF THE ANIMAL).
  3. The partner class will then spend a specified amount of time researching the clues provided to try and identify the habitat and therefore the animal that would live in that habitat. (suggested time – 30 – 45 mins)
  4. Following the research the partner school will name the animal they think would live in the habitat described.  The home school will confirm if correct or not.
  5. Time could then be spent comparing and contrasting the different habitats described and why the animals like to live there.
  6. Closing comments and thank you.

Resources
