BRIDGE BUILDING VIDEO CONFERENCING PROJECT BRIEF
(idea provided by Jane Reed – Llanyrafon Primary, Torfaen)
Preparation prior to VC
- Each teacher will decide upon a specific bridge(s) to study and create. (This must be kept secret from the children in the other class)
- Each class will use recycled materials to create their bridge. (ensuring the bridge is as strong as possible for point 5 of the VC)
- A set of clues will be created in a format of their choice for the opposing group/class/school to solve in order to identify the bridge created.
(Suggested clues – dimensions/measurements of the bridge, type of bridge, does it cross a river, which county/state is it in etc)

- Chosen bridge to study.
- Internet access
- Recycled materials
- Digital camera/camcorder (optional)
Video Conference Agenda – Suggested Activities
- Initial introductions between the classes/schools.
- Each group/class/school will present their bridges and set of clues to the partner group/class/school.
- The partner group/class/school will then have a set amount of time to research the clues and decide which bridge they think has been created. (Suggested time – 30mins)
- The partners will present their answers based on the clues and the groups/classes/schools will confirm if they correctly identified the bridge.
- An additional factor could be a challenge to see which created bridge can hold the most weight.
- Closing comments and thank you.

- Completed clues/information/resources prepared prior to VC including the model bridge
- Internet access for research during the VC
