HEALTHY MENU VIDEO CONFERENCING PROJECT BRIEF

(idea provided by Joanna Collins Victoria Primary School, Torfaen)

Preparation prior to VC

  1. Each class will look at different menus from different restaurants (approx 5 - teacher to determine so that there are distinct similarities and differences) and evalute them according to the choices for children e.g. health and variety.  Menus can be found online as well as in the restaurant e.g. pizza hut

  2. Each class will create their own restaurant and make a menu for it thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of the ones they have seen.

  3.

  4. The created menu needs to be emailed to the partner school for them to evaluate.

Resources

  1. 5 different menus from various restaurants that have a defined children's menu e.g. Pizza Hut, Harvester, TGIF, Beefeater, Frankie and Bennys.
  2. Digital cameras/camcorders (optional)

Video Conference Agenda – Suggested Activities

  1. Initial introductions between the classes/schools.

  3. School 1 presents their menu for their restaurant.  The partner school places an order and states why they would order the chosen food.  The partner school also presents what they liked about the menu and why.
  4. This process is repeated for the second school.
