IMPROVING THE ENVIRONMENT - LITTER VIDEO CONFERENCING BRIEF

Video Conference 1

1.       Both groups to listen to the story ‘Dinosaurs and all that rubbish’

2.       Both groups to be provided with challenge/task.

‘Your task is to research your local area (could just be the school) and complete a litter pick/survey of the grounds. (keep litter for later work)

Resources

1. Book ‘Dinosaurs and All That Rubbish’

Preparation prior to the VC

1. Children to complete litter survey of local area.
2. Maps of area to be annotated where litter was found, position of bins already in the area.
3. Recommendations for local area to be provided.
4. Collage of litter found to be produced.
5. Rap/poem/song could be created about experience of study or litter found. (optional)

Resources

1. Litter pickers.
2. Maps of area/school

Video Conference Suggested Agenda of Activities

1. Initial introductions between classes/schools.
2. Children to present to other school what they found in their local area.
3. Children to present recommendations for their areas.
4. Children to present collage of litter found.
5. Rap/poem/song to be presented.
6. Thank you and good byes.
