ROMEO AND JULIET CHARACTER HOT SEATING VIDEO CONFERENCING PROJECT BRIEF

(idea provided by Lydia Maloney, Abersychan Comprehensive School, Torfaen)

 

Preparation prior to VC

 

  1. Partner teachers will decide which characters their pupils will be role playing e.g. 3 per school, two major roles and one minor role.
  2. Pupils will prepare their roles and prepare questions to ask the partner school's characters.

 

Resources

 

  1. Romeo and Juliet text/film etc
  2. Internet access
  3. Relevant clothing for the characters
  4. Digital camera/camcorder (optional)

 

Video Conference Agenda – Suggested Activities

 

  1. Initial introductions between the classes/schools.
  2. Taking in turns - each character will introduce themselves.
  3. Following the introduction of the character the partner school will be given opportunity to ask questions of the character.
  4. This process will be repeated until all the selected characters chosen have 'performed'.
  5. Closing comments and thank you.

Follow-up Activity

 

  1. Pupils can write up their experiences and what they learned.  This could then be exchanged with the partner school either via email or via a second video conference.
