TEDDY BEAR MATCH VIDEO CONFERENCING PROJECT BRIEF

(idea provided by Victoria Freebury - Oakfield Primary School, Torfaen)

 

Preparation prior to VC

 

  1. In groups or as a whole class design and make a teddy bear.
  2. Write a description of how to make the teddy bear – e.g. what materials to use, sizes etc.
  3. Photograph/video the process involved in making the teddy bear to be used during the video conference.
  4. Email the written description of the teddy bear to the partner class/school for them to recreate.

 

Resources

 

  1. Paper and drawing materials for designing the teddy bear.
  2. Various materials to make the teddy bear according to the design
  3. Set of instructions
  4. Digital cameras/camcorders

Video Conference Agenda – Suggested Activities

 

  1. Initial introductions between the classes/schools.
  2. Each class will present the teddy bear created from the emailed design. 
  3. The teddy bear will be compared to the original teddy bear and similarities and differences identified.
  4. Any videos/photographs will be compared as well as part of the process.
  5. Discussion can take place according to how easy the set of instructions were to follow.
  6. Closing comments and thank you.

 

Resources

 

  1. Completed teddy bears created from the emailed design.
  2. Original teddy bear and instructions to compare to the re-created teddy bear.
  3. Digital cameras/camcorders (optional)

 

Extension Activities

 

  1. The teddy bears could be sent around the world and postcards requested to be sent to the host classes.
  2. Regular vc sessions could then be arranged to plot the journeys of the teddy bears and to show/read the postcards received.
