Where am I?

Idea provided by Kevin Eyles, Torfaen TV Studios

Project Brief

Discovering the world in which we live! Taking several places throughout the world each school will give clues via VC as to where they are talking about and the linked schools will be allowed to guess, for added fun this could be competitive.

Preparation

1. Teachers must first establish amongst themselves which places they are going to talk about during the VC.  This must not be shared with the pupils.

2. Pupils research their own chosen place(s) and prepare quiz/clues/several interesting facts about each of these.

3.Pictures could be taken from the internet or other research sources to illustrate each fact to the other schools.  These could be put into a Powerpoint presentation and used to reveal each place following guesses from the partner school.

Conference Agenda

  1. Initial introduction between schools.
  2. Country quizzes
  3. Closing remarks – thank you

Resources

  1. VC unit
  2. Internet access (research)
  3. Laptops (with Powerpoint and Word installed)
  4. Video Camera/Radio or Boom Microphones (optional)

Suggested Additional Activities

Via simple editing packages such as I-Movie pupils could appear in the relevant countries via Green Screen effects on the reveal of the country. This can be discussed with Kevin Eyles please get in touch.
